About The Doula

"I have been fascinated with pregnancy and childbirth since I was 5 years old! Life's experiences have molded me into a proud servant of God, wife, mother, nurse, and yes, DOULA. While I originally named my business simply, 'Rosia's Daughter Doula Services,' my doula experiences and vision gave way to 'Rosia's Sunkissed Doula'. Sunkissed because of my African descent and personal belief that God's sunlight nurtures us during and after the storms of life.

Like life, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can be unpredictable, but having someone to walk with you, guiding you with evidence-based practice, and answering any questions you may come across makes a difference! My personal mission as a doula to empower, educate, and advocate for families during the most vulnerable yet sacred moments of our lives while beating statistics and bridging health disparities within our communities. Your birthing experience should be unique, tailored to your personal values, beliefs, and desires. It is an honor and a privilege to be apart of your birth story!"

With Love,

About
  • What is postpartum care?
Postpartum care is customized care that allow the family to transition easily into their new normal. Common tasks that I perform include: overnight newborn care, daytime newborn care, meal preparation, light cleaning, addressal of special topics (sibling adjustment, breastfeeding, etc.), and more!
  • What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A doula is an educated support person, assisting expectant mothers and their families with advocacy techniques, birth plan formation, childbirth education, newborn education, labor support, lactation support, and postpartum services. Doulas DO NOT attend birth, but support mothers in all capacities with labor techniques to make birth easier and stress free. Midwives are autonomous providers who manage pregnancies. They DO deliver babies.
  • How can I schedule a consultation?
Complete the "Contact Me" form on the Home page, and I will reach out to you to schedule.
  • Are consultations free?
    YES!
  • Do you take payment by insurance?
Currently, I do not bill insurance for my services. However, some insurance companies will reimburse you for doula services if they are covered by your plan!
  • Do you do payment plans?
Yes! I work with each individual family to ensure a payment plan that works best for them. In general, full payment is expected by the 34th week of pregnancy. Nevertheless, case-by-case situations will be reviewed.
  • Can I customize a package with multiple services?
YES! I know that each family's needs are unique. Together, we can find something that works just for YOU!
  • I am seeing a provider (OB/GYN, nurse-midwife, etc.) through Prisma Health. How do I apply for the Black Doula Grant Fund?
You may find information related to the Doula Grant Fund at Prisma Health at https://prismahealth.org/services/womens-health/maternity/black-doula-grant

My Family

My husband and I have been happily married for over 9 years! We have been blessed to have 2 beautiful sons, 4 furbabies. In our free time, we enjoy traveling and making memories.

My mother Rosia, for whom I named my business, is a jewel! She remains a constant in our busy lives, providing us with tranquil guidance and immeasurable love to shower our boys, whom she enjoys babysitting. My mother has always encouraged me to be true to myself and to embrace my unique, trailblazing spirit. It is because of her that Rosia's Sunkissed Doula, LLC has become the pillar that it is in Upstate SC.
